The UW Press Office prepared a new edition of presentations and texts about the University of Warsaw. Each piece of materials is both in the Polish and English language. New materials contain significant facts and figures about the university, its education, research, and international collaboration.

UW rector awarded with the honoris causa degree of the Precarpathian National University
The Senate of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University unanimously decided to confer the title of doctor honoris causa for Prof. Marcin Pałys, rector of the University of Warsaw. The doctoral award ceremony is planned for September in Ukraine.
UW doctoral candidates selected as laureates of “Ma thèse en 180 secondes” competition
Julia Łukasiak and Aleksandra Burdziej are the UW doctoral candidates who were awarded first two prizes in this year's Polish edition of "Ma thèse en 180 secondes" competition. The participants' task was to present the subjects of their scientific research in French. The presentation could not last more than three minutes.
University of Warsaw Annual Report 2019
Once a year, a report featuring essential information on the university activity is compiled. The University of Warsaw Annual Report 2019 includes significant data on UW. The UW Executive Summary and annexes are available in the English language. On 24th June, the UW Senate adopted the document.
Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak elected the UW rector
On 17th June, the UW Electoral College elected Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak who will become the University of Warsaw rector in 2020-2024. He received mmm votes. There were three candidates: Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Prof. Paweł Strzelecki, and Prof. Andrzej Tarlecki.
Dr. Przemysław Mróz awarded the International Astronomical Union 2019 PhD Prize
Dr. Przemysław Mróz has been awarded the International Astronomical Union PhD prize for outstanding scientific achievements of astronomy PhD students around the world for his dissertation "Astrophysical applications of gravitational microlensing in the Milky Way". The thesis was written under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Udalski from the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw
Construction work in progress
The multi-annual development plan aims primarily to stimulate the potential of the humanities and social sciences. Thanks to the programme, new buildings will be constructed, and others will be refurbished. Currently, the construction of one of the largest investments of the programme, the second stage of the building at Dobra 55, is in progress.
