Pro Publico Bono Award to UW Rector
Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, received the fifth edition of the Ujazdowski Hospital Pro Publico Bono Award. The prize is granted by the Award Committee for special achievements in social activity and commitment to others.
UW Library open 24 hours a day
According to the decision of the UW Rector, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the University of Warsaw Library will be open 24 hours a day from 2nd October. This is a response to high student interest in the 24-hour opening mode of the BUW, the pilotage of which was launched in April.
Taiwanese delegation at UW
On 20th September, the authorities of the University of Warsaw met with a delegation of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China. “We are interested in deepening the cooperation with Taiwanese universities in terms of research and teaching,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, said.
UW Rector on Nuclear Industry Human Resource Development
On 6–7th July, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, attended The 1st V4-ROK University Presidents Forum for Nuclear Industry Human Resource Development. The aim of the meeting was to exchange information and strengthen relations between the rectors from the Visegrad Group countries and their Korean counterparts.
The UW Rector’s Annual Report 2022
On 29th June the Senate of the University of Warsaw adopted “The University of Warsaw Rector’s Annual Report 2022”. The report covers significant data on the UW, e.g. research, education, international cooperation, academic mobility, social and cooperate outreach, finances and investments. The document also includes the calendar of the most important events of the past year.
On 4th April, an Easter meeting with the UW community was organised at Kazimierzowski Palace. “I would like to thank you for your everyday, excellent work for our University. I wish you a happy Easter with your families and friends,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, said.
Aid to earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria
Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, and the academic community express their solidarity with earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria. The University of Warsaw supports donations in kind collection organised by the Turkish Ambassador to Poland. Students whose families have been affected by the disaster can apply for an assistance grant.
The university shapes the future
“With the community of 70,000 members, the University of Warsaw is an elite institution. The quality of research and teaching remains the major goal of the university. Our students are the elite of the Polish youth, while many UW researches might be future Nobel Prize laureates,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, commenced the official inauguration of the 2022/2023 academic year at the UW.
The opening ceremony of the 2022/2023 academic year
The official inauguration of the 2022/2023 academic year at the University of Warsaw was held on 3rd October, Auditorium Maximum, on the university historical campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The opening lecture was delivered by a world-renowned surgeon, Professor Maria Siemionow of the University of Illinois, Chicago. The event was livestreamed.
The newly-formed UW Faculty of Medicine
Following the Senate of the University of Warsaw’s approval, on 29th June, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, UW Rector, signed the ordinance on establishing the Faculty of Medicine. Over 70 years passed for the University of Warsaw to restart the medical education.
