University of Warsaw Annual Report 2019
Once a year, a report featuring essential information on the university activity is compiled. The University of Warsaw Annual Report 2019 includes significant data on UW. The UW Executive Summary and annexes are available in the English language. On 24th June, the UW Senate adopted the document.
Construction work in progress
The multi-annual development plan aims primarily to stimulate the potential of the humanities and social sciences. Thanks to the programme, new buildings will be constructed, and others will be refurbished. Currently, the construction of one of the largest investments of the programme, the second stage of the building at Dobra 55, is in progress.
Reduced accommodation fee
In June and July, just like in the last few months, students and doctoral candidates of the University of Warsaw will pay less for their accommodation in residence halls. According to the rector’s order as of 3rd June 2020, accommodation fee will be reduced by 50%.
Summer online course offered by “Polonicum”
Eager to start or continue your adventure with the Polish language and culture? From 3rd to 28th August, the UW Centre of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners “Polonicum” offers its summer course. This year the course will be conducted online. The application deadline is 15th July.
The organisation of the foreign language proficiency examinations for the summer examination session
The University Council for the Certification of Language Proficiency issued a resolution regarding the organisation of the foreign language proficiency examinations for the summer examination session of the academic year 2019/2020. Unless a mandatory requirement for the student’s degree, it is recommended that students postpone taking the examination to the following academic year.
Latest information and advice for the UW community during the coronavirus pandemic
Following the new ordinances of the UW rector, online teaching and learning will continue, except classes which cannot be conducted remotely. It is possible to work remotely, perform work on a roster basis or under the flexible working-time system. On 26th May, Prof. Marcin Pałys issued an ordinance which introduces changes – specifies – some of the provisions of the document published on 21st May
BUW resumes lending and free scanning services
As a result of easing restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, readers can partly use the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) resources. As of 18th May, BUW resumes lending, free scanning services, and individual appointments with readers.
4EU+ educational projects: call for proposals
Academics working in the 4EU+ universities can submit project proposals regarding education that would engage students and doctoral candidates. All projects have to involve at least three 4EU+ member universities and fall under one of the four 4EU+ flagship programmes.

Message regarding financial support for students and doctoral candidates
On 22nd April, Prof. Jolanta Choińska-Mika, the UW Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching issued a notice, dedicated to students and doctoral candidates, informing them, among other things, how to submit applications for the allowance aid and other benefits social scholarships and scholarships for persons with disabilities.

On 14th May at noon, Prof. Jolanta Choińska-Mika, the UW Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching, will be answering frequently asked questions on the current study-related matters, e.g. upcoming examination period, exams and credits, as well as changes to the academic calendar.
New guidance for studying and working during coronavirus outbreak
The University of Warsaw is continually monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic. On 7th April, the UW rector issued a new order on studying and working arrangements at the University of Warsaw. Measures brought in by UW aim to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the UW community.
