Opening of the season at UW Botanic Garden

On 24th March, the Botanic Garden of the University of Warsaw is opening its new season themed “Detective Science”. The opening promises to engage visitors with a series of attractions, including a field game and guided walks. Each ticket will come with a fragrant gift, and the first visitors will also receive philodendron seedlings.

University of Warsaw 207th Anniversary Concert

This year, the University of Warsaw is celebrating its 207th anniversary of its establishement. To mark the occasion, a concert entitled “Sceniczne harmonie” was held on 17th November. The University’s artistic ensembles as well as the singer and multi-instrumentalist Sławek Uniatowski were performing during the event.

Lady from Ampato

A reconstruction of the face of the woman called Juanita is presented as part of the exhibition at the Andean Sanctuaries Museum in Peru. The event summarises five years of the cooperation between the Centre for Andean Studies of the University of Warsaw, and the Santa Maria Catholic University of Arequipa.

The opening ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year at UW

The inauguration ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year at the University of Warsaw will begin at 2 pm on 2nd October. The event will take place in the Auditorium Maximum on the campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The inaugural lecture will be given by Prof. Hieronim Grala from the UW Faculty of „Artes Liberales”. The event will be streamed son the University’s website.

79th Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising

On 1st August, the academic community of the University of Warsaw will commemorate the 79th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. The gathering will take place at 12pm on the University campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście nearby the main gate.

International Congress of Spanish History

From 29th to 31st May, the International Congress of Spanish History was organised at the University of Warsaw. The event was attended by researchers from 14 countries.

4th Vegan Day at the UW

On 19th May, the 4th edition of the Vegan Day was organised at the UW Faculty of Modern Languages. The aim of the event is to draw the attention of the academic community to environmentally friendly attitudes to nutrition.

2023 Night of Museums at the UW

The University of Warsaw participated in the celebrations of the Night of Museums, which was held on 13th and 14th May. Various attractions were prepared for that occasion by the UW Museum, Library, Botanic Garden, Faculty of Archeology and Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Universia International Rectors’ Summit

The 5th Universia International Rectors’ Summit was held from 8th to 10th May in Valencia. The event under the slogan “University and Society” was attended by Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector.

President of the Portuguese parliament visits the UW

On 4th May, the University of Warsaw was visited by a Portuguese delegation led by Prof. Augusto Santos Silva, the President of the Assembly of the Republic. During the visit, Prof. Silva met with Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, and delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Modern Languages.

10 years of the CNBCh

On 25th March, the event marking the 10th anniversary of the UW Biological and Chemical Research Centre (CNBCh) was organised. The meeting was focused on the previous activities and the future plans of the Centre.

In front of the Faculty of Medicine

On 17th March the representatives of the University of Warsaw and the Military Institute of Medicine – National Research Institute took part in a series of lectures and scientific meetings titled “Under the sign: Medicine”, which was accompanied by the unveiling of a new plate of the Faculty of Medicine.

New episode of Read with UW – “Kopernik. Rewolucje”

“This year we are celebrating Nicolaus Copernicus and I recommend reaching out not only for his own works, but also for the publications about him”, Agnieszka Kościelniak-Osiak from the UW Library says. As a part of the series #ReadwithUW Kościelniak-Osiak presents a book “Kopernik. Rewolucje” by Wojciech Orliński.

December with VC UW

On the 3rd December the University Volunteer Centre (UVC) will be celebrating the 8th anniversary, and the International Volunteer Day 2 days later as well. To commemorate these events, UVC and volunteers prepare several actions and activities like “Mission: Christmas Card” or a pet food bank called “Filling in Pets’ Bellies”.

Cultural Orientation Training

On 25th-26th March, the UW Welcome Point and the UW Human Resources Office organise cultural orientation training for the international staff of the university. The registration closes on 23rd March.
