4EU+ joint educational projects: Second call for proposals
4EU+ academics can now submit their project proposals and receive funding to carry out educational activities that will involve students and doctoral candidates from the Alliance. All projects need to bring together at least three 4EU+ member universities and fall under one of the four 4EU+ flagship programmes.
2020 at a glance
It has been a calendar year that will long be remembered by everyone. 2020 at the University of Warsaw saw, e.g. different rules for university operations during a COVID-19 pandemic, change of the UW authorities, ground-breaking research projects, national and international successes of UW employees and students. We present selected facts of the last year.
Mission: Christmas Card
Just as every year, the Volunteer Centre of UW organises a special mission before Christmas. The UW community members can get involved and send online Christmas wishes which will be forwarded to ca. 90 seniors, staying in the Nursing Home of the Society of St. Francis de Sales in Warsaw.
Online Warsaw 2020 MAKEit Fruit & Veg MAKEathon
UW MA students, doctoral and postdoc researchers can apply now for an online “Warsaw 2020 MAKEit Fruit & Veg MAKEathon”, organised by UW in association with EIT Food and Institute for Manufacturing of the University of Cambridge. The application deadline: 12th November.
University of Warsaw Annual Report 2019
Once a year, a report featuring essential information on the university activity is compiled. The University of Warsaw Annual Report 2019 includes significant data on UW. The UW Executive Summary and annexes are available in the English language. On 24th June, the UW Senate adopted the document.
Latest information and advice for the UW community during the coronavirus pandemic
Following the new ordinances of the UW rector, online teaching and learning will continue, except classes which cannot be conducted remotely. It is possible to work remotely, perform work on a roster basis or under the flexible working-time system. On 26th May, Prof. Marcin Pałys issued an ordinance which introduces changes – specifies – some of the provisions of the document published on 21st May
BUW resumes lending and free scanning services
As a result of easing restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, readers can partly use the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) resources. As of 18th May, BUW resumes lending, free scanning services, and individual appointments with readers.
Prof. Andrzej Tarlecki on new regulations regarding staff matters
On 16th April, a new act on special support measures owing to the spread of coronavirus has been adopted. It includes regulations on, among others, remote exams and defences of theses. In a video, the UW Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Financial Policy, explains what impact the act and latest rector’s orders have on the university, its employees, doctoral candidates and students.

Easter wishes: take a break, stay healthy and optimistic

Accommodation fee reduced by 50%
On 23rd March, the University of Warsaw rector issued an order which states that students, doctoral candidates, postgraduate students of the School of Education of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation and the University of Warsaw, and participants of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, who live in UW facilities, will pay a partial accommodation fee in April.
