4EU+ Annual Meeting in Copenhagen
”Sustainability – an ever closer alliance” was the theme of this year’s meeting of representatives of the seven 4EU+ Alliance member universities. Rectors, flagship coordinators, administration staff, doctoral candidates and students of the partner universities were discussing 4EU+ achievements and future plans that also dealt with an issue of sustainable development.
Research career development and mobility
Apart from international research programmes, international and intersectoral mobility is a key factor in the development of a scientific career, self-improvement and education. As part of the information campaign called “HR Excellence in Research at the UW in June” we are describing university initiatives regarding this issue.
Fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment and career
As set in the European Charter of Researchers, universities are bound to progress their researchers’ development, whereas researchers are obliged to develop their skills and qualifications. The actions should aim at minimising the employment uncertainty while increasing the employability.
A symbol of trust
The University of Warsaw has entered the renewal procedure of the HR Excellence in Research award. Prof. Sambor Grucza, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, is discussing the consequent changes that the distinction triggers and their influence on the university.
The UW mini-grants under the 4EU+ Alliance
The University of Warsaw has launched the third edition of the mini-grants programme for inter-institutional research teams under the framework of strategic partnerships. The programme can be joined by researchers including University staff members and/or doctoral candidates and students, and representatives of at least two other member universities of the 4EU+ Alliance.
The 4EU+ Alliance standing in solidarity with Ukraine
We are publishing the 4EU+ Alliance’s statement referring to the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine. The Alliance is a partnership of six European universities: the University of Warsaw, Sorbonne University, the University of Copenhagen, Heidelberg University, Charles University, and the University of Milan.
4EU+ Alliance online courses
In the summer semester 2021/2022, online courses organised by 4EU+ member universities will be available for students and doctoral candidates. The courses are conducted by Charles University in Prague, the University of Milan, and Sorbonne University. The registration is open now.
4EU+ Annual Meeting in Heidelberg: Coverage
“The 4EU+ European University Alliance is an excellent example of successful international collaboration, based on a common idea of the European University that builds on academic freedom and autonomy,” stressed Prof. Bernhard Eitel, Rector of Heidelberg University. More than 160 representatives of the six-member universities participated in this year’s 4EU+ Annual Meeting.
Results of the 2nd call for 4EU+ educational projects
30 projects have been selected for funding in the second call for 4EU+ joint educational projects. UW scientists will be engaged in 22 initiatives, coordinating seven of them. The project teams bring together academics, doctoral candidates and students from at least three 4EU+ universities..
Online workshop for 4EU+ doctoral candidates and academics
Heidelberg University offers an online self-study course on research-based learning. The self-paced workshop is open to doctoral candidates and academics of 4EU+ member universities, including the University of Warsaw. On 21st May and 4th June, the Digital Open Hour will be held.
Photo contest for 4EU+ students and doctoral candidates
Students and doctoral candidates of 4EU+ member universities, including the University of Warsaw, are invited to participate in a first-ever 4EU+ Student Photo Contest on Instagram. The key theme of the contest is Europeanness. The deadline for entry is 3rd May.
4EU+ joint educational projects: Second call for proposals
4EU+ academics can now submit their project proposals and receive funding to carry out educational activities that will involve students and doctoral candidates from the Alliance. All projects need to bring together at least three 4EU+ member universities and fall under one of the four 4EU+ flagship programmes.
2020 at a glance
It has been a calendar year that will long be remembered by everyone. 2020 at the University of Warsaw saw, e.g. different rules for university operations during a COVID-19 pandemic, change of the UW authorities, ground-breaking research projects, national and international successes of UW employees and students.
