President of the Portuguese parliament visits the UW
On 4th May, the University of Warsaw was visited by a Portuguese delegation led by Prof. Augusto Santos Silva, the President of the Assembly of the Republic. During the visit, Prof. Silva met with Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, and delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Modern Languages.
University of Warsaw as a member of the ACTRIS-ERIC
The European Commission has taken a decision to establish the ACTRIS-ERIC consortium. Its aim is to concretise a long-term effort by several European countries to create a sustainable infrastructure supporting atmospheric and climate research. Poland is one of the 17 founding members of the consortium. The UW is represented in this group by Prof. Iwona Stachlewska from the Institute of Geophysics.
Polish-Mongolian cooperation agreement
On 25th April, an agreement between the University of Warsaw and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences was signed in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. The cooperation between two research units will be focused on education, research projects, academic exchange and training programmes in oriental studies, geography and archaeology.
German delegation visits the UW
On 30th March, the UW authorities met with the representatives of twenty German universities, which belong to the German Academic Exchange Service (German: DAAD). The main aim of the visit was to strengthen the cooperation and discuss the possibility of joint academic projects.
The exhibition “Les Français à Varsovie”
“Les Français à Varsovie”, the exhibition about the history of Poland-France relations has been opened to the public at the French Embassy in Warsaw. The exposition was prepared by The Center for Research on Culture of Warsaw of the University of Warsaw as part of the project “Multicultural Warsaw in the past and at present”.
The University of Warsaw hosted a meeting of its authorities with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the Palestinian National Authority. The main theme of the discussion was the development of academic exchange and fostering bilateral relations in such fields as scientific research and vocational education.
Visits to strategic partner institutions
Creating joint scientific teams, jointly applying for grants, co-managing research and teaching centres are example actions under the Programme of visits to strategic partner institutions funded by the IDUB. This action complies with the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, which is implemented by those institutions that have been awarded with the HR Excellence in Research.
The UW Rector’s Annual Report 2021
On 29th June the Senate of the University of Warsaw adopted “The University of Warsaw Rector’s Annual Report 2021” unanimously. The report covers significant data on the UW, e.g. research, education, international cooperation, academic mobility, social and cooperate outreach, finances and investments. The document also presents information about the university functioning under special conditions
4EU+ Governing Board in Heidelberg
The future development of the 4EU+ European University Alliance was the topic of an exchange on 30th June and 1st July among the rectors and presidents of the six partner universities, members of the Management Committee, the General Secretariat and representatives of 4EU+ local offices. The meeting took place at Heidelberg University.
The UW signs an agreement with the International Institute for Nuclear Energy
Representatives of the University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, and the French Institut international de l’énergie nucléaire (I2EN) signed a cooperation agreement to establish a new framework for students’ education in the field of nuclear energy.
Final session of two EIT Food programmes
A double recap under EIT Food PSRAL (Public Sector Representatives Activity Line) – coordinated by the UW Faculty of Management – EIT Food RIS Government Executive Academy (GEA) and EIT Food RIS Research Infrastructure Network (RIN) will be held on 1st December.
UW collaborates with EIT Health
The University of Warsaw will join EIT Health that connects business, research and education to bring innovative, real-world health solutions to market to enhance the health of citizens. “I hope that joint educational projects will contribute to the transformation of healthcare systems”, stresses Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw.
Tyre: Discovery of a new Roman Temple in the Phoenician port in Lebanon
Tyre, the Phoenician capital on the coast of Lebanon, is the site of the latest project with PCMA UW involvement. The international team researching this UNESCO World Heritage List city has recently finished a highly successful fieldwork season discovering the remains of a complex belonging to a Roman-period temple.
