On 29th June the Senate of the University of Warsaw adopted “The University of Warsaw Rector’s Annual Report 2021” unanimously. The report covers significant data on the UW, e.g. research, education, international cooperation, academic mobility, social and cooperate outreach, finances and investments. The document also presents information about the university functioning under special conditions
4EU+ Governing Board in Heidelberg
The future development of the 4EU+ European University Alliance was the topic of an exchange on 30th June and 1st July among the rectors and presidents of the six partner universities, members of the Management Committee, the General Secretariat and representatives of 4EU+ local offices. The meeting took place at Heidelberg University.
The UW signs an agreement with the International Institute for Nuclear Energy
Representatives of the University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, and the French Institut international de l’énergie nucléaire (I2EN) signed a cooperation agreement to establish a new framework for students’ education in the field of nuclear energy.
Final session of two EIT Food programmes
A double recap under EIT Food PSRAL (Public Sector Representatives Activity Line) – coordinated by the UW Faculty of Management – EIT Food RIS Government Executive Academy (GEA) and EIT Food RIS Research Infrastructure Network (RIN) will be held on 1st December.
UW collaborates with EIT Health
The University of Warsaw will join EIT Health that connects business, research and education to bring innovative, real-world health solutions to market to enhance the health of citizens. “I hope that joint educational projects will contribute to the transformation of healthcare systems”, stresses Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw.
Tyre: Discovery of a new Roman Temple in the Phoenician port in Lebanon
Tyre, the Phoenician capital on the coast of Lebanon, is the site of the latest project with PCMA UW involvement. The international team researching this UNESCO World Heritage List city has recently finished a highly successful fieldwork season discovering the remains of a complex belonging to a Roman-period temple.
European experts address the COVID-19 pandemic
How should Europe deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in the future? Which strategies should be pursued, and what specific risks should be considered? European scientists, including Prof. Ewa Szczurek from the UW Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, have published answers to these questions. The results of their work are available in journal “The Lancet”.
ECHE awarded to UW
The University of Warsaw is the most active Polish university regarding the mobility of students and employees. The European Commission awarded UW with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). The document allows higher education institutions to apply and participate in the Erasmus+ programme for education, training, youth and sport 2021-2027.

The University of Warsaw Annual Report 2020 is out. It includes significant data on UW, e.g. research and teaching activities, international collaboration, academic exchange, relations with the socio-economic environment, finances and university investments. The UW Executive Summary and annexes are available in English. The Senate of the University of Warsaw adopted the document.
Pre-Columbian Manuscript Publication
What gods did the Aztecs worship? How was it recognized that a given day was suitable for agricultural work or marriage? Answers to these and other questions are available in the pre-Hispanic manuscript known as “Codex Vatican B (Vat. Lat. 3773)” manuscript. An international team of academics — led by Prof. K. Mikulska from UW — present a scientific publication of this pre-Columbian document.
The Biden Administration and U.S. Global Strategy
The UW Faculty of Political Science and International Studies organises joint international seminars concerning America’s global strategy under the incoming Biden administration and its implications. They will be live-streamed on 21st, 22nd, 25th and 26th January.
4EU+ joint educational projects: Second call for proposals
4EU+ academics can now submit their project proposals and receive funding to carry out educational activities that will involve students and doctoral candidates from the Alliance. All projects need to bring together at least three 4EU+ member universities and fall under one of the four 4EU+ flagship programmes.
