The inauguration ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year at the University of Warsaw will begin at 2 pm on 2nd October. The event will take place in the Auditorium Maximum on the campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The inaugural lecture will be given by Prof. Hieronim Grala from the UW Faculty of Artes Liberales”. The event will be streamed on the University’s website.

 

The inauguration programme includes:

  • singing of the Polish National Anthem and the European Union Anthem;
  • welcoming the guests and a speech by Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of UW;
  • matriculation;
  • singing of Gaude Mater Polonia by the University of Warsaw Choir;
  • speech by the President of the UW Student Council;
  • speech by a representative of the PhD Students’ Union;
  • Inaugural lecture;
  • singing of Gaudeamus igitur by the University of Warsaw Choir.

Admission to the inauguration ceremony of the academic year at the UW is only possible for those who have received invitations and confirmed their participation in the event by sending an e-mail to senat@adm.uw.edu.pl, or by phone 22 55 24 012.

 

The streaming of the ceremony will be available on the University website (in Polish, with simultaneous translation into English, and the Polish Sign Language with live subtitles in Polish).

In accordance with the Ordinance No. 239 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw from 12th November 2020 on the establishment and announcement of Rector’s and Dean’s days and hours, the authorities of individual UW units may announce Dean’s hours on 2nd October to enable all interested parties to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the academic year.
