Ways to support doctoral candidates at UW

Doctoral candidates are an important part of the University of Warsaw community. In order to develop their scientific potential and innovative research ideas, the University offers a range of material and social support solutions.

Erasmus+ scholarship holders in photos

Spain, Ireland, Colombia, Morocco, Portugal, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Italy. Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, students from the University of Warsaw take classes or internships in various parts of the world. Thirteen such places have been captured in the first edition of the FotoErasmus+ calendar.

Fourth edition of DeepMind scholarships

The DeepMind scholarships will be awarded for the fourth time this year. The offer is aimed at women interested in pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Warsaw, linked to machine learning research. The deadline for applications is 5th November.

Benefit offer for UW students and doctoral candidates

Students and doctoral candidates of the University of Warsaw can now apply for a number of benefits for the 2023/2024 academic year. The benefits are aimed at persons in a difficult financial or life situation, with a disability certificate or outstanding scientific, artistic or sporting achievements.

Laureates of the “Scholarship to Start”

The “Scholarship to Start” has been granted to 171 students and doctoral candidates, who were admitted to the University of Warsaw in the on-going academic year. The award is an initiative of the Rector’s Scholarship Fund.

Fulbright Senior Award for a UW physicist

Dr Maciej Lisicki from the UW Faculty of Physics has been given a Fulbright Senior Award. The decision was made by the Board of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. As part of the grant, the UW scientist will study fluid transport by so-called active surfaces.

10th edition of Anna Bornus scholarship

Six students were given the Anna Bornus scholarship. The ceremony took place on 13th January at the University of Warsaw. The recipients of the award are people with physical disabilities.

DeepMind scholars

Julia Jakubowska and Julia Jurkowska, students of Applications of Physics in Biology and Medicine, were granted "DeepMind Scholarships” in the third edition of the program. The scholarship is given to female researchers, interested in conducting master’s studies focused on machine learning at the University of Warsaw.

Polish-Palestinian cooperation

The University of Warsaw hosted a meeting of its authorities with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the Palestinian National Authority. The main theme of the discussion was the development of academic exchange and fostering bilateral relations in such fields as scientific research and vocational education.

Mobility, scholarships and programmes for UW doctoral candidates

As set in the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, the University of Warsaw supports the scientific careers of its researchers and doctoral candidates. Under the University’s Integrated Development Programme (ZIP) they are offered a number of support and skills development projects that are useful not only in their research work, but also in their professional and social activities.

Third edition of DeepMind scholarships

Two 2-year DeepMind Scholarships are addressed to women interested in conducting master’s studies focused on machine learning at the University of Warsaw. The application deadline is 30th October.

The UW awarded the NAWA funding for Ukrainian students and doctoral candidates

The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) granted the funding of PLN350,000 to the University of Warsaw. The awarded funding is allocated for scholarships for students and doctoral candidates who had to flee Ukraine and decided to stay in Poland.

In 2021, DeepMind scholarships are to be awarded for the second time

Two 2-year grants are addressed to women interested in conducting master's studies focused on machine learning at the University of Warsaw. The application deadline has been extended to 26th October.
