The University of Warsaw hosted a meeting of its authorities with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the Palestinian National Authority. The main theme of the discussion was the development of academic exchange and fostering bilateral relations in such fields as scientific research and vocational education.

On 6th December Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, and  Prof. Sambor Grucza, the UW Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, hosted a meeting with representatives of the Palestinian authorities.

 

The Palestinian delegation included: Mahmoud Abu Mouis – the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the Palestinian National Authority, Shadi Helo – the Director General for Scholarships, His Excellency Mahmoud Khalifa – the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Poland, and two other representatives of the Embassy: Alaa Jadallah (the Second Secretary) and Ammar Shayyeb (the Chief of the Department of Finance and Administration).

 

The Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education was represented by Wojciech Dziedzic – the Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation.

 

During the meeting academic mobility, under the Erasmus+ in particular, and shared courses at partner universities were discussed. Both sides were interested in developing the cooperation in education and research (e.g. scholarships, joint publications) with the main focus put on political sciences and international studies, business, history, Arabic studies, literature and medicine.
