Honorary doctorate for Prof. Dieter Vollhardt

On 8th April, Prof. Dieter Vollhardt was awarded with an honorary doctorate of the University of Warsaw. The ceremony was held in the Senate Hall. The researcher is an outstanding physicist, Professor Emeritus at the University of Augsburg.

Honorary doctorate for the European archaeologist

Prof. Freiherr Claus von Carnap-Bornheim, a researcher of the Roman period, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Warsaw. The ceremony to confer the title took place on 5th December at Kazimierzowski Palace.

On 5th December, a ceremony was held at the UW to confer an honorary doctorate of the University of Warsaw to Prof. Freiherr Claus von Carnap-Bornheim – an outstanding researcher specialising in the archaeology of central and northern Europe of the first millennium AD.

Prof. Hideo Ohno awarded with the UW honorary title

On 13th November, Prof. Hideo Ohno from Tohoku University received the title of doctor honoris causa of the University of Warsaw. He is an outstanding Japanese physicist of condensed matter.

Honorary doctorate for Prof. Mirosława Czerny

Prof. Mirosława Czerny from the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies, the Director of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the UW, has received an honorary doctorate from the Autonomous University of Mexico State in Toluca. She has been analysing urban and regional phenomena and processes in Latin America throughout her professional life.

UW rector awarded with the honoris causa degree of the Precarpathian National University

The Senate of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University unanimously decided to confer the title of doctor honoris causa for Prof. Marcin Pałys, rector of the University of Warsaw. The doctoral award ceremony is planned for September in Ukraine.

Sergei Kovalyov with an honorary degree of UW

Dr. Sergei Kovalyov, a Russian biophysicist, politician and human rights activist, received an honorary doctorate degree of the University of Warsaw. The ceremony was held on 14th March.

Three honorary degrees

Prof. Włodzimierz Borodziej received the doctor honoris causa degree of the University of Jena. Recently, Prof. Andrzej K. Wróblewski and Prof. Lech Garlicki were recognised by Polish universities.

One of the greatest Polish lawyers – Professor Ewa Łętowska received a honoris causa degree of the University of Warsaw. The ceremony took place on 24th June.
