Silver for programmers

Three students from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the UW won a silver medal in the 40th Annual World Finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.

PCMA specialists return to Palmyra

In May conservators and archaeologists from the PCMA UW returned to Palmyra to resume work on the rescue conservation of objects in the Palmyra Museum.

University’s birthday

In 2016 the University of Warsaw celebrates its 200th anniversary. Many events have been prepared on that occasion. One of them was the UW Alumni World Reunion.

The University of Warsaw offers over 20 English-language programmes. At present candidates can register for five programmes of studies.

Polish-American partnership

In 1976 the American Studies Center was established at the UW. In the same year the Polish Studies Center was founded at the IU Bloomington. On 1st June universities will renew academic agreement.

Open weeks at ASC

From 9th to 20th May the American Studies Center organizes open weeks. Candidates can come and take part in lectures and seminars.

Call for papers

The UW co-organizes international conference entitled “Preventive conservation of human environment 6. Architecture as part of the landscape”. Deadline for sending paper proposals is till 31st May.

UW opens its doors

On 16th April the University of Warsaw organizes Open Day of UW Ochota Campus. One week later, during the Open Day at UW Main Campus candidates can find out about programmes offered by the UW.

Young scientist and algorithms

Three scientists from the University of Warsaw who received ERC grants work on algorithms. One of them is doctor Marek Cygan. We present a video about him and his research.

Programming contest in Thailand

The 2016 ACM-ICPC World Finals will take place on 19th May in Phuket. The team from the University of Warsaw will participate in that contest.

Report from Palmyra

Two Polish specialists from the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw visited Palmyra just a few days after it has been taken over from the ISIS by Syrian government forces.

ERC grant for astronomer

Professor Grzegorz Pietrzyński from the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw was granted the ERC Advanced Grant. It is 12th prestigious award for the UW.

Excellent assessment of the EC

The University of Warsaw has been identified for its good performance in the implementation of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education in the first year of Erasmus+.

From 21st to 22nd of April 2016, the University of Warsaw will host an international conference “Life in Palmyra, life for Palmyra”.

21st century world challenges

Students and doctoral students can take part in the competition called “Tsinghua-Santander World Challenges of 21st Century Program”. Application deadline is till 25th April.

Meeting with the candidate

Every member of the UW community can come and ask Prof. Marcin Pałys a question concerning his electoral programme. The meeting with the candidate for UW rector will take place on 22nd March.

Erasmus Mundus conference

„Erasmus Mundus opens your minds” is the title of the scientific conference which will take place on 14th April at 9.00 at the University of Warsaw.
