UW at Polish Higher Education Fair in Chicago

From 3rd to 5th February, representatives of the University of Warsaw led by Prof. Ewa Krogulec, the Vice-Rector for Development, took part in the Polish Higher Education Fair in Chicago. The main purpose of the event was to encourage young people to study in Poland.

4EU+ Annual Meeting in Milan

For the fifth time, the representatives of the 4EU+ Alliance member universities, including the University of Warsaw, were gathering at the 4EU+ Annual Meeting. This year, the event was held on 7th-9th November at the University of Milan.

40 years of cooperation between the University of Warsaw and Saarland University

June marks the 40th anniversary of the partnership between the UW and Saarland University. On 1st June, the celebrations of the jubilee were held at the University of Warsaw.

4EU+ Annual Meeting in Heidelberg: Coverage

“The 4EU+ European University Alliance is an excellent example of successful international collaboration, based on a common idea of the European University that builds on academic freedom and autonomy,” stressed Prof. Bernhard Eitel, Rector of Heidelberg University. More than 160 representatives of the six-member universities participated in this year’s 4EU+ Annual Meeting.

Inauguration of the 2021/2022 academic year

On 1st October, at 2. pm, the solemn ceremony of the new academic year at the University of Warsaw took place. Karol Husman, an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University, working on robotics and machine learning, delivered the first academic lecture entitled “Unordered thoughts of machines”. 1st October marked the beginning of the academic year 2020/20201 at the University of Warsaw. Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak has opened the solemn ceremony that was held at 2 pm in the Auditorium Maximum building.

New Rector’s Team takes office

On 1st September, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak has officially become the 45th University of Warsaw Rector. He has taken office together with four Vice-Rectors: Prof. Sambor Grucza, Prof. Ewa Krogulec, Prof. Zygmunt Lalak and Prof. Sławomir Żółtek.

Letter from the Rector Marcin Pałys

Prof. Marcin Pałys has served as the University of Warsaw Rector since 2012. Soon, his second term will come to an end. “These last eight years were filled with hard work, challenges, achievements and satisfaction, as well as lively discussions on the university’s vision and future,” says Prof. Marcin Pałys in a letter to the UW community.

Vice-rectors announced

Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW rector-elect announced vice-rectors for the 2020-2024 term. A new rector’r team will comprise Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, Prof. Sambor Grucza, Prof. Ewa Krogulec, and Prof. Sławomir Żółtek.

Message regarding financial support for students and doctoral candidates

On 22nd April, Prof. Jolanta Choińska-Mika, the UW Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching issued a notice, dedicated to students and doctoral candidates, informing them, among other things, how to submit applications for the allowance aid and other benefits social scholarships and scholarships for persons with disabilities.
