From 3rd to 5th February, representatives of the University of Warsaw led by Prof. Ewa Krogulec, the Vice-Rector for Development, took part in the Polish Higher Education Fair in Chicago. The main purpose of the event was to encourage young people to study in Poland.

The Polish Higher Education Fair in Chicago is addressed primarily to potential students of Polish universities as well as principals and teachers of Polish schools and parents in America. During the fair, they have a chance to visit the university stands and learn about various offers of study and schlolarship programmes.

The event was attended by the University of Warsaw’s delegation led by Prof. Ewa Krogulec, the Vice-Rector for Development. The UW was also represented by Dr Valeri Vachev, head of studies at the UW’s Faculty of Law and Administration, and Aleksander Leszczyński from the office of the Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching.

“As one of Europe’s leading research and teaching centres, the University of Warsaw met with great interest. Prospective candidates were keen to find out about the opportunities to study in both English-language and Polish-language programmes. The most popular fields of study were computer science, management and medicine,” Prof. Ewa Krogulec, the UW Vice-Rector for Development, said.

The Fair was followed by the Polish Science and International Mobility – Meetup Chicago, held on 5th February. The second event focused primarily on scientific collaboration between Polish and American scientists, academic mobility and possibilities of conducting projects at Polish universities.

“On the last day of the Fair, which was devoted to the research potential of Polish universities and the development of international cooperation, we discussed the possibility of conducting joint research projects together with American universities and local scientists. We have returned from the Fair satisfied, hoping to develop the cooperation we had initiated and to meet with young people again, this time at the University of Warsaw in early October,” Prof. Ewa Krogulec emphasised.

The Polish Higher Education Fair was organised by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago and Association of Polish Teachers in America.
