For the fifth time, the representatives of the 4EU+ Alliance member universities, including the University of Warsaw, were gathering at the 4EU+ Annual Meeting. This year, the event was held on 7th-9th November at the University of Milan.

The 4EU+ Alliance is composed of eight European research universities: the University of Warsaw, Charles University in Prague, Heidelberg University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, Sorbonne University in Paris, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Geneva, and the University of Milan. The cooperation between universities focuses on conducting world-class research and, joint degree programmes, training doctoral candidates, as well as undertaking joint initiatives related to innovation, technology transfer and social responsibility of universities. The 4EU+ Alliance aims to create a comprehensive research-intensive European University.

 

The 4EU+ Alliance organises meetings for its community members every year. The first annual annual meeting meeting was held in 2019 at Sorbonne University, and the second – in an online formula – was organised by Charles University. The 2021 Annual Meeting was hosted by Heidelberg University. Last year, the representatives of partner universities met at the University of Copenhagen.

 

Milan discussions

This year’s 4EU+ Annual Meeting took place on 7th-9th November at the University of Milan. Participants were discussing their past activities and making plans for the future.

 

The programme of the event included meetings of such bodies as the Governing Board, Management Committee, Academic Council, TRAIN4EU+ Project Steering Committee, Flagship Program Coordinators team, and working groups. The meetings brought together rectors, vice-rectors, academic and administrative staff, doctoral candidates and students.

  • Opening Address, with the speeches of the Rector of the University of Milan, Rector of the University of Copenhagen, President of the Municipal Council, D.G. Internationalisation and Communication, Italian Ministry of Universities and Research.
  • I Session: the 4EU+ European Alliance and the European University Initiative, with presentations by the 4EU+ Secretary General, the representative of the European Commission and representatives of 4EU+ students.
    Keynote Speech entitled “Re-envisioning our common future. The key role of European universities” will be delivered by Prof. Maurizio Ferrera.
  • II Session: #BuildingBridges – Becoming One European University.
