Fish within a species differ in their capability of effective upstream or downstream passage through fishways across barriers. Prof. Barbara Pietrzak and Alicja Fudali from the UW’s Faculty of Biology investigated fish individualities and their impact on management and conservation issues.

“Today, we have opened a teaching and research centre that will also contribute to the nature protection. The University must shape the life culture and cooperation,” said Prof. Alojzy Z. An international team of researchers published in “Nature” the results of the study concerning various conditions of biological invasions of non-native tree species and factors which counter the invasions. The co-author of the paper is Prof. Bogdan Jaroszewicz from the Białowieża Geobotanical Station, University of Warsaw.

The researchers from the University of Warsaw developed an innovative artificial intelligence model that generates antibiotics and published their findings in “Nature Communications” journal.

The University of Warsaw hosted diplomats and representatives of universities and research institutions of Uzbekistan and Peru on 23rd and 28th June, respectively.

Humans re-shape the environments where they live, with cities being among the most profoundly transformed environments on Earth. New research now shows that these urban environments are altering the way life evolves. The research team led by the University of Toronto Mississauga published their work results in “Science”. Among the co-authors is Professor Marta Szulkin from the CeNT UW.

Prof. Bogdan Jaroszewicz from the Białowieża Geobotanical Station of UW is a co-author of research articles on forest microclimate published in "Science" and "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences".

Prof. Bogdan Jaroszewicz from the Białowieża Geobotanical Station of the UW Faculty of Biology is among the authors of an article, published in the journal "Nature Ecology & Evolution", presenting how the biodiversity of forest undergrowth has changed over the past decades. The research was based on data from 68 temperate forest complexes in Europe, including the Bialowieża Forest.

Botanists from the Białowieża Geobotanical Station of UW contributed to the article, published in Nature, on the impact of global warming on plant species richness on mountain summits.
