Prestigious award for Prof. Ewa Pałasz-Rutkowska

Prof. Ewa Pałasz-Rutkowska from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, one of Poland’s top scholars researching Japanese history, received the Japan Foundation Award 2019.

Dr. Bartosz Wcisło awarded E.W. Beth Dissertation Prize 2019

Doctor Bartosz Wcisło has received the E.W. Beth Dissertation Prize for his dissertation “Understanding the strength of compositional truth”. It is the world's most important prize for dissertation in the field of logic.

Award for the article co-written by two scientists from UW

Dr. Wojciech Czerwiński and Prof. Sławomir Lasota from the UW Institute of Informatics are co-authors of the paper awarded by the program committee of the ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing conference (STOC). The article entitled "The Reachability Problem of Petri Nets is Not Elementary" has been considered as the best conference paper.

Honorary degree for Prof. Jurczak

Prof. Janusz Jurczak, a distinguished scientist who conducts research in organic chemistry, received the doctor honoris causa degree of the University of Warsaw. The ceremony took place on 16th January.

European Inventor Award 2018

Three researchers from UW, Prof. Jacek Jemielity, Prof. Edward Darżynkiewicz and Dr. Joanna Kowalska, have been nominated for the European Inventor Award 2018 in the research category.

Tycho Brahe Prize 2018 for Prof. Andrzej Udalski

Prof. Andrzej Udalski from the University of Warsaw has received the Tycho Brahe Prize 2018 “in recognition of the role as driving force behind OGLE (Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment)”.

30 years of Erasmus+

On 13th June the EU will be celebrating 30th anniversary of Erasmus – the most successful programme for education, training, youth and sport. Currently, 33 states participate in academic exchange.

127 awarded employees

It has been the third time when the UW scholars, who have achieved outstanding results in research or teaching, were awarded. These employees will be receiving an increased salary.

On 21st May Professor Andrzej Udalski from the Astronomical Observatory of the UW has received the Dan David Prize. This award belongs to the top ten prestigious distinctions in the world.

Assistant Professor Joanna Sułkowska from the Centre of New Technologies is among 15 young female scientists who received the International Rising Talent Grants.

Support for scholars

121 employees of the University of Warsaw will be obtaining increased salary for one year. The UW rector granted diplomas to scholars who contributed to the development of the UW faculties and units.
