The University of Warsaw bestowed Doctor Honoris Causa upon an outstanding theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize laureate – Prof. François Englert. The conferral ceremony was held on 23rd April in the Senate Hall of the Kazimierzowski Palace.

The University of Warsaw conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa upon Prof. Dieter Vollhardt, a world-renowned theoretical physicist and expert in electronic correlations and magnetism. The conferral ceremony was held on 8th April.

On 23rd April, the University of Warsaw will confer the prestigious title of Doctor Honoris Causa upon Prof. François Englert, an outstanding scientist, a professor emeritus at the Université libre de Bruxelles, The Nobel Prize laureate in Physics 2013.

Prof. Mirosława Czerny from the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies, the Director of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the UW, has received an honorary doctorate from the Autonomous University of Mexico State in Toluca. She has been analysing urban and regional phenomena and processes in Latin America throughout her professional life.

“A leader is a person others want to follow, whom people want to see succeed and who wants to help succeed,” Mark F. Brzezinski, the United States Ambassador to Poland, started his speech in the Auditorium Maximum of the University of Warsaw.

“I would like to bow down low to the Ukrainian people, the ones who have been brutally attacked by the Moscow regime. Truly, having no words to utter but ‘barbarism’, I wish to express my – our – solidarity, support and sympathy. For me, the attack on Ukraine, a free and sovereign country, is the attack on Europe,” started her speech Olga Tokarczuk. On 23rd February she was honoured with the title

Nowak, UW Rector, during the official conferring of the title of doctor honoris causa of the University of Warsaw.
