The organisation of the foreign language proficiency examinations for the summer examination session
The University Council for the Certification of Language Proficiency issued a resolution regarding the organisation of the foreign language proficiency examinations for the summer examination session of the academic year 2019/2020. Unless a mandatory requirement for the student’s degree, it is recommended that students postpone taking the examination to the following academic year.
The pre-election meeting on 25th May
On 17th June, members of the Electoral College will elect the UW rector for the 2020-2024 term. On 21st May, the University Electoral Committee registered three candidates. On 25th May, the candidates presented their programmes and answered questions, during the online pre-election meeting with members of the UW academic community. 2019 Annual Report of the University Council
The first University Council of the University of Warsaw was established by the decision of the Senate of the University of Warsaw in May 2019. The work schedule of the council for 2019 included five meetings. Works of the council concentrated both on current issues related to the activities of the University and on the strategy for further development of the University of Warsaw.
BUW resumes lending and free scanning services
As a result of easing restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, readers can partly use the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) resources. As of 18th May, BUW resumes lending, free scanning services, and individual appointments with readers.
4EU+ educational projects: call for proposals
Academics working in the 4EU+ universities can submit project proposals regarding education that would engage students and doctoral candidates. All projects have to involve at least three 4EU+ member universities and fall under one of the four 4EU+ flagship programmes.

Dr. Thurston C. Hicks as a co-author of the paper in “International Journal of Primatology”
The article entitled “The Relationship Between Tool Use and Prey Availability in Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii) of Northern Democratic Republic of Congo” has been published in “International Journal of Primatology” magazine. Its first author is Dr. Thurston C. Hicks from the UW Faculty of "Artes Liberales".
Admissions to Doctoral Schools for the 2020/2021 academic year
Four doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw are now open to applications. University graduates who would like to pursue their scientific career can apply to their preferable doctoral school, register in the Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) and submit required documents until 28th June.
Message regarding financial support for students and doctoral candidates
On 22nd April, Prof. Jolanta Choińska-Mika, the UW Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching issued a notice, dedicated to students and doctoral candidates, informing them, among other things, how to submit applications for the allowance aid and other benefits social scholarships and scholarships for persons with disabilities.

Copernicus Award for Prof. Stefan Dziembowski
