The safety of the academic community is a priority for the University of Warsaw. The University takes measures to prevent potential threats, while mutual awareness and a shared sense of responsibility also play an important role in creating a safe environment in which to study and work.

We encourage all members of the University of Warsaw community to remain alert to situations that may pose a risk to safety, particularly:

  • aggressive behaviour, threats or other actions that may give cause for concern;
  • statements or messages, including those shared on social media, suggesting that someone may harm themselves or others;
  • attempts to gain unauthorised access to University premises or facilities.

Reporting such situations promptly enables the relevant services to assess potential risks and take appropriate action.

How to report a threat
  • 112 – in the event of an immediate threat to life or health;
  • University of Warsaw Security Service: +48 22 55 22 112 – for situations requiring immediate intervention on University premises;
  • bezpieczenstwo@uw.edu.pl or the reporting form available on the Safety at the UW website – for concerns that do not require immediate intervention;
  • the management of the relevant University unit – for matters concerning a particular faculty, department or other organisational unit.

Guidance on how to respond to emergencies and other potential threats is also available on the Safety at the UW website.

A shared commitment to safety helps foster a supportive and responsible academic environment.

“The safety of our academic community is an absolute priority. The University of Warsaw must be a place where everyone – regardless of their role, place of work or field of study – can feel safe. Our responsibility extends beyond responding to threats: we must also take steps to prevent them. This is why we are continually improving our safety procedures, strengthening measures to protect students, doctoral candidates and staff, and fostering a culture of mutual respect, responsibility and trust,” says Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw.

“Safety is built not only through procedures and protective measures, but also through mutual awareness, responsibility and trust. We want every member of our community to feel safe and to know that they are not alone when facing difficulties. This is why it is so important to remind people how to respond to potential threats and to ensure that support is readily accessible. We all contribute to making our University a safer place, every day,” says Robert Grey, Chancellor of the University of Warsaw.
