4EU+ Alliance courses

The University of Warsaw students and doctoral candidates can take online or hybrid courses organised by the 4EU+ Alliance universities in the 2023/2024 winter semester. Registration for classes at Charles University in Prague as well as at Sorbonne and the University of Milan is open.

Summer Polish language course

25th August marked the end of the 68th edition of the summer course in Polish language and culture organised by the Centre for Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners “POLONICUM”. This year, there were 100 participants. On the last day, the students danced the Polonaise in the UW Library Gardens.

Welcome Days at UW

On 28th and 29th September, Welcome Point organised an orientation event for all new international long-term students at the University of Warsaw. The meetings in Polish and English were held in the Auditorium Maximum building at Krakowskie Przedmieście.

The opening ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year at UW

The inauguration ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year at the University of Warsaw will begin at 2 pm on 2nd October. The event will take place in the Auditorium Maximum on the campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The inaugural lecture will be given by Prof. Hieronim Grala from the UW Faculty of „Artes Liberales”. The event will be streamed son the University’s website.

MERGED – Joint Master’s Degree at 4EU+ universities

A new, prestigious programme of Global Environment and Development (MERGED) studies will be open for final-year students and graduates of Bachelor’s degree, active in the field of natural environment and sustainable development. The studies are carried out as part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programme.

Today a book, tomorrow a weapon

Until 7th September, it was possible to see the exhibition “Today a book, tomorrow a weapon” prepared by the Students’ Council of the University of Warsaw. It deals with the issue of Ukrainian students fighting in the war.

Results of 2023/2024 admissions at the UW

Almost 58,000 registrations, more than 30,000 applicants, including 2,000 from abroad – on 20th July, the admission results were announced for full-time first-cycle and full-time long-cycle programmes, as well as part of other studies at the University of Warsaw in the academic year 2023/2024. The most popular programme as regards the number of applicants per place was medicine.

Intensive Polish Language Course for UW students

The University of Warsaw is organising an unpaid 40-hour intensive Polish language course. The class aims to ease the language barrier and prepare international students for living, studying and working in Poland.

Sorbonne and Geneva universities shared courses

Students and doctoral candidates of the University of Warsaw can take online or hybrid courses organised by the 4EU+ Alliance universities in the winter semester 2023/2024. Registration for Sorbonne and Geneva universities' classes is underway.

A new signal processing method developed by UW students

Students at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw and researchers from the QOT Centre for Quantum Optical Technologies have developed an innovative method that allows the fractional Fourier Transform of optical pulses to be performed using quantum memory. This unique achievement is first to present an experimental implementation of transformation in this type of a system.

Applying for a place in a Student House

From 1st June the UW students and doctoral candidates can apply for a place in a Student House for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Workshop on exam preparation

On 30th May Welcome Point organised the workshop “Exams are coming!”. During the event, the UW students had a chance to learn how to prepare effectively for their exams.

Legalisation of stay in Poland – informational meetings

Welcome Point organised two informational meetings on legal issues concerning residence in Poland for students and doctoral candidates. They were held on 22nd and 25th May on the UW Main Campus.

4th Vegan Day at the UW

On 19th May, the 4th edition of the Vegan Day was organised at the UW Faculty of Modern Languages. The aim of the event is to draw the attention of the academic community to environmentally friendly attitudes to nutrition.

Cultural Hot Spot 2023

The third edition of “Miasteczko na styku kultur – Cultural Hot Spot” took place on 18th May. During the event the participants had a chance to meet the representatives of several cultures, take part in calligraphy workshops, watch artistic performances and taste dishes from distant corners of the world.

Laureates of the “Scholarship to Start”

The “Scholarship to Start” has been granted to 171 students and doctoral candidates, who were admitted to the University of Warsaw in the on-going academic year. The award is an initiative of the Rector’s Scholarship Fund.

On 12th and 13th May, the University of Warsaw was celebrating the days of student culture. The event was be held on the University’s main campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście Street. During the Juwenalia there were no classes.

4EU+ Against Cancer: Summer School 2023

Charles University in Prague is hosting in July the 4EU+ Summer School devoted to the research in oncology and its funding. The UW students (graduates of 1st cycle studies at least) and doctoral candidates interested in the topic can submit the application for the summer school by 15th May 2023.
