UW in 2018 – 10 events
In 2018, the University of Warsaw was engaged in various research and didactic initiatives including the UW preparations for implementation the Law on Higher Education and Science (Law 2.0), formation of 4EU – a European University Alliance, and the federation with the Medical University of Warsaw. What else happened at UW during the past year? We present 10 facts.
Fieldwork for the ERC grant “UMMA” project has begun
The first excavation season of the “UMMA – Urban Metamorphosis of the community of a Medieval African capitality”project has just begun. It is founded by the European Research Council. In 2017, Dr. Artur Obłuski from UW won a ERC grant in order to analyze the transformation process of the city of Dongolafrom an important Christian centre, the capital of the kingdom of Makuria, into a Muslim city.
LERU and CE7 met at UW
On 22nd September rectors of the universities that belong to the League of European Research Universities (LERU) met with their counterparts of seven Central European Universities (CE7) at the University of Warsaw. They were discussing the future of the EU in terms of Brexit, research funding, regional innovation, open science and internationalisation.
