On 1st August, the academic community of the University of Warsaw will commemorate the 79th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. The gathering will take place at 12pm on the University campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście nearby the main gate. 

An international, interdisciplinary team of authors, including Prof. Robert Wiśniewski from the UW Faculty of History, show that, in response to increased rainfall and flooding in the sixth century AD, a new type of miracle emerged in the stories of saints circulating in Italy at the end of antiquity: the power of the saints over the element of water on land and in the air.

Prof. Włodzimierz Borodziej from UW was awarded the International Research Award of the Max Weber Foundation in cooperation with the Historisches Kolleg in Munich.

"Defending Asgard, independence and human rights. The use of history in current affairs” is the title of a lecture that Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland, will give at the University of Warsaw. The meeting is a part of his official visit of the politician to Poland.
