Rector’s Day, 4th May

In accordance with the decision of Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, 4th May is Rector’s Day for the entire university.

On the path to ERC

The University of Warsaw has created an institutional support ecosystem for talented researchers applying for prestigious research grants. This is a key element in supporting the development of academic careers. We are publishing another article in the series “Spring with HR Excellence in Research”.

On equality initiatives

Erasmus for all

Since the launch of the Erasmus+ programme at the University of Warsaw, the university has facilitated around 50,000 outgoing and incoming exchanges. On 16th April, a national meeting of programme coordinators was held at the UW’s Centre for New Technologies, during which participants discussed factors influencing ways to enhance the benefits for Erasmus+ beneficiaries.

Increasing the amount of doctoral scholarships

Following a decision by the Rector of the University of Warsaw Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak the amount of scholarships for doctoral candidates will be increased.

Juwenalia 2026

On 8th and 9th May, the University of Warsaw will host a musical festival for students. Performers at Juwenalia will include Hubert., LemON, Kosma Król, and Perfect & Łukasz Drapała. Juwenalia are days when there are no classes.

Experiments at the Heavy Ion Laboratory UW

The results of research conducted at the Heavy Ion Laboratory have been published in the journal “Physics Letters B”. The dilemma between two different descriptions of the structure of cadmium nuclei has been resolved.

New regulations for the doctoral schools of the University of Warsaw

On 22nd April, the Senate of the University of Warsaw adopted a resolution on new regulations for the University’s doctoral schools. The document will come into force on 1st October.

Admissions to the UW doctoral schools for the 2026/2027 academic year

Admissions to the University of Warsaw’s doctoral schools will open on 14th April. There are 325 places available across 26 academic disciplines. Applications are to be submitted via the Internet Recruitment for Candidates System.

The University of Warsaw, as the data controller, is issuing this notice in connection with a cybersecurity incident. The content and format of this notice are in accordance with the obligations set out in the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

How do defects affect shapes?

Biological processes can be viewed not only from the classical – genetic or biochemical – perspective. This is analysed by Prof. Łucja Kowalewska from the UW Faculty of Biology and Prof. John W. C. Dunlop from the University of Salzburg – the authors of an article published on 16th April in “Science”.

Support for international members of the UW community

Next year will mark a decade since the Welcome Point was established at the University of Warsaw. The unit supports international students, doctoral candidates and university staff. It was set up as part of the implementation of the University of Warsaw’s HR Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) for the years 2016–2019. We present the next chapter of the series "Spring with HR Excellence in Research".
