On 27th May, the University of Warsaw hosted a meeting of the 4EU+ member university community, during which students, doctoral candidates and employees had the opportunity to learn more about the Alliance’s activities.
During the event at the UW’s building at Dobra 55, participants had the opportunity to talk to students and doctoral candidates acting as 4EU+ Alliance ambassadors, as well as representatives of local 4EU+ offices. The following speakers shared their experiences: Marie Strucviel (University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas), Flavia Raccanelli (University of Milan), Abubakar Sani Yahaya (University of Copenhagen), Małgorzata Niedzielska (University of Warsaw), Arsen Cenaj (Sorbonne University), Laura Colò from the 4EU+ General Secretariat and Katarzyna Ścierańska from the local 4EU+ office at the UW.
In the networking area, visitors could find out about mobility opportunities, try out the 4EU+ Student Portal, suggest solutions within the Alliance’s flagship programmes, as well as play language games and take part in intercultural workshops.
The 4EU+ Alliance
The 4EU+ Alliance is one of the University of Warsaw’s strategic initiatives. It comprises eight European research universities. Apart from the University of Warsaw, these are: Sorbonne University, Heidelberg University, Charles University in Prague, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Milan, the University of Geneva and Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. The collaboration focuses on conducting world-class joint research, joint study programmes and educational offers, doctoral training, and undertaking initiatives related to innovation, technology transfer and the social responsibility of universities.
In June 2019, the European Commission (EC) announced the results of the pilot call for proposals under the Erasmus+ European Universities programme. The 4EU+ consortium was among the 17 university alliances that received funding for their projects. In July 2022, the 4EU+ Alliance project received funding in the next edition of the European Universities competition, organised by the EC under the Erasmus+ programme. The One Comprehensive Research-Intensive European University (1CORE) project aims to further deepen cooperation between the Alliance’s universities, increase the virtual and physical mobility of students, doctoral candidates and employees, promote innovative education, and develop a shared digital infrastructure.
Member universities carry out joint research, educational and staff development projects. Most of these relate to flagship programmes:
- Urban Health and Demographic Change
- Europeannes: multilingualism, pluralities, citizenship,
- Digitisation – Modelling – Transformation,
- Environmental transitions.
