Scholarships for outstanding young scientists 2025

17 young scientists from the University of Warsaw have received scholarships from the Minister of Science and Higher Education. 16 postdoctoral researchers and one doctoral student were awarded.

A good start at UW doctoral schools

From October 1st to 3rd, first-year doctoral candidates took part in the “Good Start” implementation programme. Thanks to the involvement of UW’s units and central offices, young researchers were able to learn about the university’s rich offer right at the beginning of their education – from social support and assistance in carrying out research projects to cultural and sports activities.

4EU+ Alliance Ambassadors

Recruitment for the 4EU+ Student Ambassadors programme is now open. Two places are available for students and doctoral candidates from the University of Warsaw. Applications can be submitted until 20th October.

New rules for Student Halls of Residence at UW

Residents of UW’s dormitories will be subject to new rules. The amended regulations of UW’s Student Halls of Residence organise the existing rules and introduce solutions that will meet the needs of students better.

New building of the UW’s Faculty of Psychology in Ochota

The new building of the UW’s Faculty of Psychology, located on Banacha Street, has six floors and an area of 26.6 m2. The building includes an auditorium for over 380 people, seminar rooms, lecture halls, computer rooms, group work rooms and research laboratories. There is a garden on the roof and an observation deck. It will be used by approximately 2,000 people.

Food and culture zone at BUW

A menu featuring dishes from around the world, affordable prices, and a comfortable place to socialise or study. The University of Warsaw Library has created a zone where students, doctoral candidates, employees, and guests of the UW can not only eat a meal, but also take a break, view an exhibition, or participate in a debate.

UNICA network meeting

Representatives of over 50 universities affiliated with the UNICA network discussed research cooperation in a changing environment and scientific data security at the University of Warsaw.

Meeting with a delegation from South Korea

On 15th September, a delegation from South Korea visited the University of Warsaw. The meeting with representatives of Chung-Ang University focused on opportunities for developing scientific and research cooperation and student mobility programmes.

Information spot for newcomers at the University of Warsaw

The Welcome Point at the University of Warsaw has opened its Pavilion for students, doctoral candidates and employees beginning their studies or job at the University of Warsaw. The information point will be open until 17th October. Newcomers can get answers to all questions about studying and working at the University of Warsaw, as well as everyday life in Warsaw.

Beginning of classes in the 2025/2026 academic year

The 2025/2026 academic year inauguration ceremony at the University of Warsaw took place on 1st October. This was a day off from classes. Lectures in all units began on 2nd October.

Visit of an American delegation to the UW

From 16th to 19th September, a delegation from the United States visited the UW. Representatives of Rutgers University met with the authorities of the UW and representatives of its units and faculties. The discussions focused on opportunities for developing research and teaching cooperation.

UW Student Dormitory No. 7 nominated for the Deezen Awards

"The dormitory fosters both networking and privacy. The interiors combine simplicity and warmth, offering cosy common spaces, industrial-style kitchens, and distinctive rust-red accents. Fully accessible and eco-conscious, the project includes solar panels, heat recovery systems, and preserved greenery".
