“Your mind – your strength”

An information and education campaign entitled “Your mind – your strength” has been launched at the University of Warsaw. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and promote well-being among the entire academic community. The campaign is being carried out by the University of Warsaw Psychological Support Center.

Security measures at the University of Warsaw

The Security Office, intervention measures for the UW’s Security Guard, talks with the services – the University of Warsaw has taken numerous endeavours to strengthen security on campus. Further measures are also planned in the near future, including training, new alarm systems and the installation of CCTV surveillance in all University of Warsaw buildings.

Laying of the Cornerstone on Bednarska Street

A Laboratory of Media Studies, specialised television, radio and photography studios, functional teaching and lecture rooms, as well as common areas, courtyards and recreational terraces – these are the features of the new University of Warsaw building at 2/4 Bednarska Street, which will be the main building for the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies.

The Weigl NAWA TOP200 programme launched at the UW

The Weigl TOP200 programme, implemented by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in cooperation with the National Science Centre (NCN) and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), was launched at the University of Warsaw. This initiative aims to actively attract scholars from the world’s best research centres.

Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, which began its official activities on 24th October 1945, to protect peace, support international cooperation, and promote human rights around the world. To celebrate the occasion, a conference was held at the University of Warsaw with the participation of, among others, Radosław Sikorski, Deputy Prime Minister.

Inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum

On 3rd November, the University of Warsaw hosted a meeting to mark the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Egypt, which houses, among others, the furnishings of Tutankhamun’s tomb. The event was attended by the UW Rector and the Egyptian ambassador to Poland.

Green Day at the UW 2025

Lectures, workshops and a garage sale were just some of the attractions available to participants of “Green Day at the University of Warsaw”, an initiative aimed at promoting ecological solutions and climate protection. The event took place on 6th November.

Mental health guide for the University of Warsaw community

The University of Warsaw has published a guide on caring for mental health and buildmental resilience. The publication was created as part of the “Your mind – your strength” campaign run by the University of Warsaw Psychological Support Center for the entire academic community.

Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, took part in the 75th anniversary celebrations of Tamkang University in Taipei, one of the oldest and most recognisable universities in Taiwan.

Theatre Improvisation Course for University of Warsaw Employees

Welcome Point UW, the Center for Polish Language and Culture „Polonicum”, and the Impro School invite all University of Warsaw employees to take part in theatre improvisation workshops. Participation is free of charge.

Meeting with the delegation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong

On 28th October, University of Warsaw hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The discussions focused on opportunities for developing academic and research cooperation.

University of Warsaw Medal for the Kościuszko Foundation

The Kościuszko Foundation is one of the oldest Polish diaspora organisations promoting scientific and cultural cooperation between Poland and the United States. On the occasion of its centennial, the institution was honored with, among other awards, the University of Warsaw Medal.

Gravitino: a new candidate for Dark Matter

Prof. Krzysztof Meissner from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw, together with Prof. Hermann Nicolai from the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics, conducts research on superheavy charged gravitinos. In an article published in “Physical Review Research”, the scientists propose using new underground neutrino detectors for detecting charged gravitinos.

New ways to emit light

Scientists from the Faculty of Physics and the Center for New Technologies at the University of Warsaw and Emory University in Atlanta, USA, have investigated how atoms’ mutual interaction change the way light is emitted, opening up new opportunities for quantum technologies. The results of the study were published in the journal Physical Review Letters.
