According to the decision of the UW Rector, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the University of Warsaw Library will be open 24 hours a day from 2nd October. This is a response to high student interest in the 24-hour opening mode of the BUW, the pilotage of which was launched in April.

Initially, from April 2023, the University of Warsaw Library was open 24/7 twice a week. Representatives of the Students’ Council were involved in determining the new opening hours of the BUW.

The campaign attracted a lot of interest from the UW community, especially from students, who in June alone visited the BUW more than 123,000 times (about 37% more than in the same period last year).

In September, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, decided to introduce the 24-hour operation of the Library throughout the 2023/2024 academic year, starting 2nd October.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the process of making this decision. I am very pleased that so many of you come to the BUW both during the day and at night,” Prof. Sławomir Żółtek, the UW Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Teaching, says.

The BUW will operate partly in a self-service mode. More information can be found on the University of Warsaw Library webiste>>
