Seven academic subjects were included in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2023, compiled by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. Mathematics and Physics, run by the University of Warsaw, were ranked 101-150.

The 2023 GRAS is one of the most comprehensive and objective rankings of world universities by subjects. This year’s league table contains rankings of universities in 55 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

 

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023 includes seven academic subjects conducted at the University of Warsaw. Two UW subjects, Physics and Mathematics, received the highest score (ranked 101-150).

The University of Warsaw in GRAS 2023:

⦁ Mathematics – ranked 101–150;
⦁ Physics – ranked 101–150;
⦁ Ecology – ranked 301–400;
⦁ Biotechnology – ranked 301–400;
⦁ Political Sciences – ranked 301–400;
⦁ Psychology – ranked 401–500;
⦁ Law – ranked 201–300.

Over 1900 out of 5000 universities across 104 countries and regions are listed in the rankings.

 

The ShanghaiRanking began to publish the world university ranking by academic subjects in 2009. By introducing an improved methodology, the GRAS was first published in 2017.

 

The ranking was compiled based on the following indicators: research output (Q1), research influence (CNCI), international collaboration (IC), research quality (Top), and international academic awards (Award).
