On 20th September, the authorities of the University of Warsaw met with a delegation of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China. “We are interested in deepening the cooperation with Taiwanese universities in terms of research and teaching,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, said.

On 20th September, the University of Warsaw hosted a meeting with a Taiwanese delegation led by Prof. Lio Mon-Chi, the Political Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China.

 

The University of Warsaw was represented by Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, Prof. Sławomir Żółtek, the Vice-Rector for Student and Quality of Teaching, Prof. Sambor Grucza, the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, the Chancellor Robert Grey, and the representatives of the faculties of Oriental Studies, Chemistry, Physics, Political Science and International Studies.

 

The main topic of the discussion was the collaboration with Taiwanese universities in various fields, such as semiconductors, smart manufacturing, international communication and space technology.

 

“We are interested in deepening the cooperation with Taiwanese universities in terms of research and teaching. We would like to intensify the academic exchange with the countries of the Far East, including Taiwan,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, said.

 

The Taiwan Ministry of Education proposes the establishment of an academic alliance comprising 6 to 12 universities in Taiwan. The alliance will collaborate with universities in Poland in fields of science and academic exchange.

 

 

“This gathering is a great opportunity to deepen our collaboration. The University of Warsaw has a rich history and a strong academic tradition. Your contribution in the development of research, education and culture is well esteemed around the world,” the Minister Mon-Chi said.

 

The Taiwanese delegation also included Dr Nicole Yen-Yi Lee, the Director-General at the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education, Canny Yi-Ken Liao, Chief of the Mandarin Chinese Education Section and the authorities of the universities which will be part of the University Academic Alliance in Taiwan.
