On 9th August, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, hosted the meeting with representatives of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University from India. The main aim of the visit was to launch the research and didactic collaboration between the UW and the university from Hisar.

On 9th August, the Rector of the University of Warsaw Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak met the delegation of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU): Prof. Baldev Raj Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Neeraj Kumar, the Dean of the College of Basic Science and Humanities. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the UW Faculty of Biology: Prof. Krzysztof Spalik, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Łukasz Drewniak, Vice-Dean for Finance, and Dr Takao Ishikawa from the Department of Molecular Biology.

 

The attendees of the event discussed future collaboration in research and didactics between the two universities as well as joint research endeavours, study visits, internships and workshops related to the field of biotechnology in precision agriculture, academic mobility, doctoral dissertations etc.

 

“We are open to the collaboration with universities from India both in research and education, however, with a particular emphasis on the academic mobility of students and teachers. One of our priorities is providing the students of the University of Warsaw with an opportunity to discover and learn about history, culture and democratic approach of the Far East institutions, observe the growth and development of these countries and their impact on the whole world,” said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, adding: “We are eager to share the knowledge and experience with our Indian partners. The signatures put on the Memorandum of Understanding today are the first step towards subsequent actions”.

 

The Rector of the University of Warsaw emphasised the direct contact with academic lecturers and teachers from India, who are capable of providing in-depth know-how of their country’s economy or agriculture. “We are focused on building bridges to connect various nations and cultures”, the UW Rector said.

 

Collaboration in biology

The Memorandum of Understanding, which deals with the collaboration in research and education between the CSS HAU and the UW, is coordinated by the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw. The endeavour is undertaken due to the IDUB Action II.1.2. Establishing and strengthening cooperation with strategic partners.
