Walk through the Old Town

UW Welcome Point is organising a walk through Warsaw`s Old Town. During the event, international students and doctoral candidates will have the opportunity to learn about Polish history and culture. The event will take place on 3rd January.

New sources of cosmic X-rays

An international team of astronomers, led by researchers from the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw, have identified a new class of cosmic X-ray sources.The results of the study were published in “The Astrophysical Journal Letters”.

Polish language course for UW employees

International employees of the University of Warsaw can sign up for an online course on the Polish language. Classes will be held twice a week between January and March 2025. Enrollment is open on the Kampus platform until 20th December.

4EU+ for Ukraine

Over 210 participants joined initiatives organised within the 4EU+ for Ukraine project. Its second edition lasts until the end of the year. One of the most recent events in the series was a conference with students organised on 2nd December at the University of Warsaw. A summary meeting of the entire project was held on 10th-11th December.

Cooperation between the UW and a Korean university

On 10th December, the University of Warsaw and Gangneung-Wonju National University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Both parties will develop mutual relations in fields such as education, research, and culture.

Student rights and duties in the “Read with the UW”

“The theme of my books is complementary. One is about what students at school can do and what they are entitled to. The other is about their duties, i.e. what they are legally obliged to do,” says Mikołaj Wolanin, a student at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, in a new episode of the “Read with the UW” series.

Meetings on legal issues concerning residence in Poland

Welcome Point is organising two meetings on legal issues concerning residence in Poland for all international students and doctoral candidates. The meetings will be held online on 11th December (session in English) and 17th December (session in Polish).

UW volunteers recognised

On 5th December, in the Golden Hall of the Kazimierzowski Palace, a meeting organised by the Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw was held, during which diplomas were awarded to the most active volunteers. The event was attended by Dr Maciej Raś, the UW’s Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching, and Katarzyna Żakowska, Director of the VC UW.

4EU+ shared courses initiative: Call for proposals

UW academic teachers can once again submit proposals for courses, in an online or hybrid mode, to the 4EU+ shared courses initiative. The courses will begin in the summer semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. They will be made available to students and doctoral candidates from 4EU+ Alliance member universities. The call is open until 2oth January.

Recruitment for the 4EU+ Secretary General

The 4EU+ Alliance seeks its Secretary General. Their role will be to ensure the effective functioning of the 4EU+ Alliance as a dynamic consortium of cooperating universities. Applications can be submitted until 17th January 2025.
