On 27th November, the University of Warsaw hosted a delegation from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. During the meeting, the principles of research and didactic cooperation were discussed, particularly in the fields of medicine and science.

The areas of research and didactic cooperation as well as actions taken by Polish universities in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine were among the main topics addressed during the meeting.

“At the University of Warsaw, we are very concerned about the situation of Ukrainian universities. We have prepared places for Ukrainian students and doctoral candidates, and we are working together with many of your researchers on various projects. Therefore, we see a wide area for cooperation,” Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, the UW Vice-Rector for Research, said.

A huge emphasis was placed on joint research in the fields of science, medicine, sociology and psychology, which Prof. Tetyana Kaganovska, the Rector of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, mentioned as particularly important for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

“We are striving for the resumption of active international cooperation, as we believe that our wartime experience can prove particularly valuable. The University of Warsaw, which was destroyed during the Second World War, is now an example of an intensely developing institution. We hope that such future also awaits our University in Kharkiv,” Prof. Tetyana Kaganovska remarked.
