On 22nd September, Sun Linjang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Poland, visited the University of Warsaw. “We want to develop cooperation not only in the field of sinology, but also in economic and social sciences. This is a huge development prospect for us,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, said.

Among the guests of the Chinese delegation were Yi Jun, Counsellor for Education, and Zhang Yuchuan, Second Secretary for Education. The main topic of discussions was strengthening the relations between the University of Warsaw and Chinese universities.

“The University of Warsaw cooperates with numerous universities from both mainland and non-continental China. This is a constantly developing collaboration and exchange of interests – we are receiving many Chinese students, and young Poles are increasingly eager to go to the Far East, not only to China, but also to Japan and South Korea,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, said.

During the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador congratulated the Polish academic team with the participation of the University Sports Association (Akademicki Związek Sportowy AZS) on their success at this year’s Summer FISU World University Games in Chengdu. He also stressed the willingness to continue joint activities in the field of education.

“We hope to expand collaboration between University of Warsaw and Chinese universities. We are convinced that Chinese students would be warmly greeted in Poland,” Sun Linjang, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Poland, said.
