11th November marks the 105th anniversary of Poland’s independence. For the sixth time, at Krakowskie Przedmieście, a festival was held to mark the occasion. The event was co-organised by the University of Warsaw.

The “Niepodległa” Festival is a series of concerts, parades, dance workshops and attractions for children, which have been taking place at Krakowskie Przedmieście since 2018.

This year’s Festival began at 12 pm with a joint singing of the national anthem by the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of the University of Warsaw “Warszawianka” and the people gathered at Castle Square. At 2 pm, on the Music Stage in the courtyard of  the University of Warsaw, an anniversary concert with Polish artists started. The performers were: Karaś/Rogucki duo, Sara James, Baranovski and Kamil Bednarek.

The UW’s main campus also hosted the Polish Dance Stage (where the performances of “Warszawianka” and the Hybrydy Theatre took place) and the Stage for Children. The Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of the University of Warsaw “Warszawianka” took also part in a parade at Krakowskie Przedmieście.
