On 6–7th July, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, attended The 1st V4-ROK University Presidents Forum for Nuclear Industry Human Resource Development. The aim of the meeting was to exchange information and strengthen relations between the rectors from the Visegrad Group countries and their Korean counterparts.

The 1st V4-ROK University Presidents Forum for Nuclear Industry Human Resource Development was organised in Seoul at the initiative of Prof. Kipung Yoo, the President of the Kepco International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS). The first meeting of its kind was attended by rectors and staff of the most important universities of the Visegrad Group countries, which are involved in training employees for the nuclear sector.

During the event, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, chaired a session of presentations by Central European technical universities, which provide training for nuclear engineers. The Rector also moderated a discussion on a model for a modern study program in this field.

There have been various bilateral inter-university meetings between KINGS and the UW. In July 2020, the University of Warsaw signed the first of the cooperation agreements with KINGS, under which several UW students gain unique practical competencies at KINGS every year. In November 2022, Prof. Kipung Yoo visited the University of Warsaw.

The University of Warsaw has been training specialised staff for the Polish nuclear sector since 2011, initially in the field of energy and nuclear chemistry, and later also in the fields of radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear chemistry and radiogenomics. It is organised by the UW’s Faculty of Chemistry, as well as in the specialty of nuclear reactor physics by the Faculty of Physics.
