Collaboration between academia and industry for the benefit of patients

“Our primary focus remains on research, teaching and reflection, with the commercial application of these skills coming second. This kind of collaboration with a US company with a global reach is fantastic,” says Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak in an interview with ‘Rzeczpospolita’. Meeting of the HTU and directors of doctoral schools at the UW

Heads of teaching units (HTU) and directors of doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw took part in an offsite meeting. Participants discussed the quality of education, the use of research findings in teaching, and the challenges associated with the development of new technologies, including artificial intelligence.

Around 4EU+

On 27th May, the University of Warsaw hosted a meeting of the 4EU+ member university community, during which students, doctoral candidates and employees had the opportunity to learn more about the Alliance’s activities.

CRASP’s position on the campaign “3% for Science, 100% for Poland”

The Presidium of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, of which the University of Warsaw is a member, has published a statement on the “3% for Science, 100% for Poland” initiative. As part of the campaign, a protest is scheduled to take place outside the Sejm on 27th May. . On that day, the UW will observe the Rector’s hours – from 11.30 am to 2.45 pm.

Admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year

On 9th June, admissions will open for first- and long-cycle studies, as well as some second-cycle studies, at the University of Warsaw. The admissions offer includes over 300 degree programmes. The results will be announced on 22nd July.

A bacterium that sticks more strongly may cause a milder bloodstream infection

Researchers from the University of Warsaw and the Spanish National Research Council show that adhesion by Staphylococcus aureus shapes the course of bacteremia and may help predict patient risk.

Researchers from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw, in collaboration with scientists from Xiamen University, have developed OMNI-P2x ‒ the first universal neural network capable of predicting how diverse organic molecules behave after absorbing light. The study describing these results has been published in Nature Communications.

A cetacean from the Lublin region

The remains of a cetacean dating back 38 million years have been discovered in the Lublin Voivodeship. This is the first specimen of its kind from the Eocene and Palaeogene periods to be found in Poland. The research was led by Dr Daniel Tyborowski from the UW’s Faculty of Geology.

Honorary doctorate for Prof. Adam D. Rotfeld

On 14th May, a ceremony was held in the Senate Hall of the Kazimierzowski Palace to award an honorary doctorate from the University of Warsaw to Prof. Adam Daniel Rotfeld – a distinguished expert in international affairs and a member of the UW’s “Artes Liberales” Faculty.

On the closeness that gives strength, in “Read with the UW”

Towards clean energy

An international consortium involving the University of Warsaw has launched a new project funded under the “Horizon Europe” programme. SUN2X-SET focuses on the development of direct solar fuel technologies and is one of the elements designed to accelerate Europe’s transition to clean energy.
