On 5th and 6th March, the University of Warsaw hosted the second edition of the Language Career Fair. The event was aimed at students of linguistics, philology and cultural studies, as well as all those interested in using languages in their professional careers.
During the two days of the Fair, participants could take part in a number of workshops. The activities focused on the skills important when applying for a job (an interview, recruitment papers), communicating in foreign languages for specific purposes, and building up one’s professional career.
The Language Career Fair was an opportunity to gain a better understanding of trends in today’s labour market, as well as to establish contacts with potential employers. The event was the result of the cooperation of the UW’s Careers Office with the two faculties of Applied Linguistics and Modern Languages.
During the Fair, its participants got familiar with a range of activities by the UW units such as the faculties of: Applied Linguistics, Modern Languages, and Oriental Studies, as well as the UW’s Incubator, International Relations Office, the Students’ Council, and the Careers Office. In addition, there was an opportunity to learn about internships and placements offered by external partners.
