The second part of the university-wide research “Equality at UW 2024” has started. The survey is open to students, doctoral candidates and employees of the University of Warsaw. The survey will be active until 12th January.
The research study is conducted by the UW Equality Team in cooperation with the Center for Research on Prejudice and the Education Quality Evaluation Unit (PEJK) and is under the honorary patronage of the UW Rector Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak.
The aim of the survey is to collect the opinions and experiences of members of our community regarding various manifestations of unequal treatment while working and studying at the university. The responses will allow to determine the scale of undesirable behaviour related to unequal treatment of individuals in the UW community.
The results of the study will be used to prepare a new edition of the Inclusive Gender Equality Plan for UW for 2025–2029.
In the first half of 2024 an in-depth interviews with various groups were carried out. On 2nd December a survey has been opened to collect the opinions and experiences of members of the UW community regarding various manifestations of unequal treatment at work and study.
The link to the survey is sent by e-mail, and is available by using USOSweb account. The survey is available in Polish and English language versions and it remains active until 12th January.

Gender Equality Plan for the UW
Gender Equality Plan for the UW (GEP), as the first document of this type in force at Polish universities, was adopted for the years 2020–2024. The bases for the document were the results of research of the needs of the UW community, expert consultations and a review of equality solutions implemented in European universities. The Gender Equality Plan for the UW determines five goals that support equal rights and opportunities for both women and men.
Goals of the Gender Equality Plan for the UW:
- raising awareness of the importance of equality issues and strengthening positive attitudes towards diversity;
- supporting the development of women’s scientific careers;
- ensuring gender equality in the recruitment of female and male employees and doctoral schools;
- supporting reconciliation of work and family life;
- increasing balanced sex representation with respect to chairpersons of faculty and university committees, management, expert and reviewer teams, and chairpersons of scientific and popularisation events.

Equality Policy at the UW
The University of Warsaw has introduced a number of solutions regarding the policy of counteracting discrimination, mobbing and other undesirable behaviour at the university.
On 28th February a new ordinance of the Rector of the UW No. 21 on policies on preventing unequal treatment, discrimination, mobbing, and other undesirable behaviour at the University of Warsaw entered into force.
The ordinance comprehensively regulates issues related to counteracting behaviour that are unacceptable at the University of Warsaw (e.g. sexual harassment, unequal treatment, mobbing and other undesirable behaviour).
