We are launching a series of articles on the latest completed or planned initiatives aimed at the professional development of employees at the University of Warsaw, in line with the European Charter for Researchers.

The principles of the European Charter for Researchers (the Charter) are of key importance to the UW, as reflected in the provisions of the University’s Statute. They are inextricably linked to the University’s long-term strategy and the University’s Strategy for 2023–2032, which focuses on consolidating the University’s position as an internationally recognised institution with a leading standing in Central and Eastern Europe.

The “HR Excellence in Research” distinction is awarded for a period of three years at a time, based on the University’s HR Strategy for Researchers at the University of Warsaw (HRS4R) (PLEN), and its renewal requires a continuous process of improving internal procedures and practices leading to better working conditions for researchers, in accordance with the detailed principles of the Charter grouped into four areas:

  • ethics, integrity, gender balance and open science;
  • researchers’ assessment, recruitment and progression;
  • working conditions and practices;
  • research careers and talent development.

A series of articles presenting the activities carried out under the HR Strategy for Researchers at the University of Warsaw for 2022–2027 will be published on the university’s homepage in the near future.
