On 23rd July, the University of Warsaw Choir will perform at a concert at Heidelberg University. The event takes place as part of the cultural cooperation of the 4EU+ Alliance universities.
The member universities of the 4EU+ Alliance (University of Warsaw, University of Geneva, Heidelberg University, Charles University in Prague, University of Copenhagen, University of Milan, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, Sorbonne University) undertake cooperation not only in terms of teaching, research or digital infrastructure, but also concerning cultural activities. In 2019, the University of Warsaw was the organiser of the “Choirs’ Spring Festival”, the idea of which is to strengthen international and cultural cooperation, promote Poland as a place conducive to the exchange of artistic experience and present the achievements of Polish choirs.
This year, Heidelberg University is the organiser of a four-day meeting, which will be attended by the University of Warsaw Choir, among others.
Symphony no. 9
A joint performance by the university’s ensembles takes place on 23 July at 7 p.m. The event consists of two parts – the first features the University of Warsaw Choir, which will perform Polish choral music prepared for its 100th season. The programme was presented at this year’s Gala Concert of the ensemble’s 100th anniversary at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.
The second part features Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9” performed by the University of Warsaw Choir, the Heidelberg University Choir and Orchestra as well as soloists (Iris Kupke – soprano, Julia Faylenbogen – mezzo-soprano, Christoph Wittmann – tenor, Matthias Horn – bass).The event will be hosted by conductor Michael Sekulla.
