Zaklepuje. To is a system and application for managing kayak rentals on the Polish market. Its creator, Jakub Jażdżyk, a student of computer science at the Warsaw University of Technology, became the winner of the 13th edition of the BraveCamp Entrepreneurship Academy, organised by the UW Incubator. The final gala took place on 14th February at the University of Warsaw Library.
Organised by the UW Incubator, BraveCamp is an entrepreneurship academy for students and doctoral candidates from the University of Warsaw, the Warsaw Medical University, the Kozmiński University, the Warsaw University of Technology and the Military University of Technology, thanks to which they can develop their business, scientific or social projects. The 13th edition of the event is behind us. Participants took part in workshops and consultations with experts and practitioners in business, marketing and the art of presentation. During the classes, they not only worked on their projects, but also learned how to negotiate with investors and how to enter the market.
Kayaks, entrepreneurs, patients
The final gala of the 13th edition of BraveCamp took place on 14th February at the University of Warsaw Library. The creators of the selected projects presented their ideas during three-minute pitches. The event was opened by Prof. Andrzej Szeptycki, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, the UW Vice-Rector for Research, Robert Grey, the UW Chancellor, and Emil Sawicki, Secretary of the Marshal of the Mazovian Voivodeship Adam Struzik, who read out an official letter from the Marshal.
“Entrepreneurship is seeping into every aspect of university life. We need to learn it and be at our best in order to raise funds, build new quality and scientific effectiveness at the University. We make sure that the results of these activities reach the socio-economic environment. All this can happen to the participants of the 13th edition of BraveCamp, which is part of the broadly defined scientific, research, teaching and educational activities of the UW, providing students with the opportunity to develop their own business projects,” Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, the UW Vice-Rector for Research, said.
“This year we are particularly emphasising the role of academic cooperation. Participants of BraveCamp come not only from the University of Warsaw, but also from the Warsaw Medical University, Kozminski University, Warsaw University of Technology and the Military University of Technology. This confirms that innovation develops best in an environment that is open to different perspectives and knowledge from many fields. The patronages of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Mayor of Warsaw, the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship only confirm its growing importance in the innovation ecosystem,” Robert Grey, the UW Chancellor said, adding: “BraveCamp is more than workshops or networking. It is a talent forge where students and doctoral candidates can turn their ideas into concrete solutions. I am delighted that UW’s Center for Cooperation and Dialogue is hosting this initiative, which combines interdisciplinarity and entrepreneurial spirit.”
