On 18th September, the Welcome Point’s Pavilion, an additional information office for international students, doctoral candidates and employees, was opened again. The temporary WP office is located on the University campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście.

The UW’s Welcome Point is a place, where international students, doctoral candidates and employees can receive detailed information on various issues regarding their stay at the University of Warsaw.

An additional office of the Welcome Point, the so called Pavilion, has been opened from 18th September. It is located on the UW campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście, next to the building of the Institute of Polish Culture and is open until 13th October from Monday to Friday (9 am to 4.30 pm). The WP team can be also contacted online every day from 12 pm to 2 pm.

“The Welcome Point is a special place for all foreigners coming to the University. They turn to us not only for academic matters or legalising their stay, but also for various life issues such as health care, transport or leisure time. For the past six years, we have been continuously developing our activities, responding to the needs of our students and staff. With the Pavilion we send an even stronger signal that we want to be close to them,” Katarzyna Basisty, the Welcome Point coordinator, said. “This year, our team is exceptionally multicultural, as we are having students from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Poland, who can communicate in as many as fifteen languages. We speak Polish, English, Azerbaijani, Arabic, Belarusian, French, Spanish, German, Farsi, Portuguese, Russian, Tajik, Turkish, Ukrainian and Uzbek,” she added.

The Welcome Point team will explain foreign students, among other things, the ins and outs of the USOS system and help them register for classes, as well as guide them to the right offices. An important aspect of the WP’s activities is assistance with the legalisation of stay. The team will not only explain the complexities of official matters, but will also help fill in the documents. Thanks to the cooperation of the UW’s Welcome Point with other University units, visitors to the Pavilion can also obtain information on, for example, scholarships and various forms of support offered by the UW.
