The University of Warsaw hosted a meeting of its authorities with the representatives of the Azerbaijani organisations. The main theme of the discussion was the development of academic exchange.

On 14th March, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw held a meeting with the Azerbaijani delegation. The University was visited by Gunday Afandiyeva, the President of Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Etibar Abdullayev, the Deputy Mission Director of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Poland and Prof. Aydan Khandan, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Baku State University.

 

“The University of Warsaw is open for cooperation with Azerbaijani universities, especially in the area of academic exchange in disciplines such as management, economics, political science, history of engineering and technical sciences,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector said.

 

The meeting was attended also by Prof. Sambor Grucza, the UW Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, Prof. Piotr Taracha, the Dean of the UW’s Faculty of Oriental Studies and Dr Shahla Kazimova from the Department of Turkish Studies and Inner Asian Peoples, the University of Warsaw.

 

 

Azerbaijani Studies at the University of Warsaw

The Centre for Azerbaijani Studies has been operating at the UW since 2018. It was established as a result of an agreement between the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the UW, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Poland and the A. Bakikhanov Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan with the support of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The aim of the unit is to popularise knowledge of Azerbaijani history, culture and language among Polish researchers and students, as well as to establish cooperation and scientific exchange between the countries.
