A team from the University of Warsaw took second place in the Rotman International Trading Competition, which took place in Toronto. The team was supervised by Prof. Robert Ślepaczuk from the UW’s Faculty of Economic Sciences.
The Rotman International Trading Competition is one of the most prestigious international trading competitions. The event takes place in Toronto.
The participants are representatives of universities from around the world. During this year’s competition, the team from the UW took 2nd place. The team was supervised by Prof. Robert Ślepaczuk from the UW’s Faculty of Economic Sciences.
During the competition, the teams participated in realistic market simulations. These included algorithmic trading, options trading, issues related to mergers and acquisitions, and activities related to commodities and equities.
The team from the University of Warsaw prepared for the competition for several months. The preparations included designing and testing strategies, market animation and risk management.
The team from the University of Warsaw consisted of:
- Jakub Fiłon – student of Quantitative Finance,
- Quoc Frejter – student of computer science and econometrics,
- Paweł Jakubowski – student of economics (specialising in business economics),
- Dominik Stempień – student of finance and accounting,
- Jan Wołyniak – student of Quantitative Finance,
- Franciszek Windorbski – student of business finance and accounting at the Faculty of Management.
The team also received analytical and strategic support from:
- Filip Bronisz – student of the Data Science programme,
- Paweł Wiencław – doctoral candidate at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences (physical sciences).
First place in the competition went to the team from Baruch College in New York, while third place went to the team from Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome.
