FotoErasmus+ 2025 Gala

On 12th December, the FotoErasmus+ 2025 gala took place in the Column Hall – an annual event that showcases how University of Warsaw students experience the world during their international mobility stays. This year’s edition revealed 12 winning photographs, which will feature in next year’s calendar published by the UW International Relations Office.

Polonicum Award 2025

On 24th November, the University of Warsaw hosted the Polonicum Award ceremony, which recognises individuals and institutions outside Poland for outstanding achievements in promoting the Polish language, history and culture around the world. The winner of this year’s edition was Dr Mirosław Dawlewicz, long-time head of the Centre for Polish Studies at Vilnius University.

Research Impact Leaders Award 2025 for the University of Warsaw

Elsevier publishing company has announced the winners of the Research Impact Leaders Award 2025. The distinction is granted to universities whose research makes the greatest contribution to the international perception of Polish science. The University of Warsaw won in the category of Natural Sciences.

University of Warsaw at the 1st National Congress „Science for Business”

University of Warsaw researchers trace the footsteps of the first Muslims in Africa

Researchers from the University of Warsaw have launched a new interdisciplinary research project devoted to one of the most important sites in the early history of Islam in Ethiopia. The initiative combines ethnographic and archaeological research, aiming to provide a comprehensive perspective on the material heritage and local narratives associated with the First Hijra.

Annual Meeting of the 4EU+ Alliance in Geneva

Caring for the Well-Being of the UW community

The “Your mind – your strength” campaign is an initiative aimed at the entire University of Warsaw community – students, doctoral students, and staff. Its goal is to promote mental health and well-being. The authors of the project remind us that each of us has an impact on our own well-being and inner balance, and that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Visit of the UW Rector to Beijing Union University

The Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, met with the rectorial team of Beijing Union University. The discussions focused on the prospects for establishing and developing institutional cooperation.

Successes of UW students in programming

Students from the UW won four medals during the 31st ICPC Central Europe Regional Contest, the final of which took place on 7th December in Wrocław. Teams from the UW won four medals: one gold, two silver and one bronze. The gold medal was won by students from the UW’s Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics: Jan Gwiazda, Stanisław Karpiejczyk and Jerzy Olkowski.

Additional exit route from the UW campus

From 8th December, an additional exit route to Oboźna Street will be available from the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw, which is intended to improve traffic flow in connection with the planned traffic restrictions on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.
