Open Science Policy at the University of Warsaw

Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, signed an ordinance introducing the Open Science Policy at the university. It defines the basic assumptions and principles regarding open access to the results of research conducted at the University of Warsaw, including publications and research data.

The titan arum flower has bloomed for the second time

On 5th August, around 1:00 a.m., the titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) began blooming in the University of Warsaw Botanical Garden. This is the second time in last few years – this time the plant is older and has a significantly larger inflorescence than before.

4EU+ courses for students and doctoral candidates

Soil mechanics, psycholinguistics, programming, and language classes. Four partner universities in the 4EU+ Alliance have reopened registration on courses for students and doctoral candidates. There are 55 courses available in University of Geneva, Charles University in Prague, University of Milan, and the Sorbonne University.

4EU+ shared courses initiative: Call for proposals

UW academic teachers can once again submit courses that are fully delivered (including assessment) in an online or hybrid mode to be made available to students and doctoral candidates from 4EU+ Alliance member universities. The courses will be made available as part of the 4EU+ shared courses initiative. Proposals must be submitted by 8th September.

Third edition of the SEED4EU+ initiative

SEED is the 4EU+ Alliance initiative, which allows inter-university teams to receive funding for their educational or research projects. Applications are open until 3rd October.

81st anniversary of the the Warsaw Uprising outbreak

"You have shown your love for the University, for fighting Warsaw, and for fighting Poland. It is an honor to meet you again. We are incredibly proud of you," said University of Warsaw Rector Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, addressing the Heroes of the events 81 years ago. On 1st August, a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising was held at the University of Warsaw.

Reymont’s acting adventure at “Read with the UW”

“We all know ‘The Peasants’ and ‘The Promised Land,’ but let’s remember that Władysław Reymont learned to observe and think in living language when working on the railway and through acting – which is probably why the novella ‘Lili’ is so interesting to me. As a reader, I can trace Reymont’s lively language in it,” says Dr Eliza Kącka from the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw.

Admission results for doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw

Over a thousand candidates participated in this year's admission process for the University of Warsaw's doctoral schools. 335 candidates are on the admission lists, and they will begin their studies at one of the four University of Warsaw doctoral schools on 1st October.

Pre-Welcome Days 2025 for international students

UW Welcome Point organises Pre-Welcome Days 2025 for international students. The event will take place on 6th August and 9th September online.

UNICOMM Project at the University of Warsaw

Over 150 hours of workshops, nearly 800 participants in project activities, and over 20 free resources for reading, listening, and watching. These are the results of the UNICOMM – University Community Active Participation Project, implemented since 2022.
