UW Open Day 2025

Demonstration lessons, medical simulations, career counselling, a rowing ergometer, reflex testing, as well as numerous meetings, quizzes and field games. On 12th April, the University of Warsaw’s Main Campus was open to all those interested in the offer of the largest university in Poland.

Meeting of the ambassadors at the UW research station in Cyprus

On 11th April, a meeting took place in Nea Paphos, Cyprus, attended by the ambassadors of Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Spain, and the Netherlands, and archaeologists from the UW. The event was part of the activities related to the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union. The official opening of the University of Warsaw’s research station in Cyprus will take in June.

Admissions for UW Doctoral Schools 2025/2026

Enrolment has begun for the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, the Doctoral School of Humanities, the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. There are 325 places waiting for applicants in 26 scientific disciplines. Registration takes place electronically via the Internet Candidate Recruitment website.

AI debate at UW

Poland’s potential in artificial intelligence-based technologies was the topic of debate held at the University of Warsaw. One of its participants was Christopher Lehane, Chief Global Affairs Officer at Open AI.

The future of the European University in the face of global changes

“The world is changing. There is globalisation and integration and we are also seeing signs of deglobalisation and disintegration. As a result, there are numerous debates on how universities should teach, conduct research and cooperate with the external environment,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, said while opening the 4EU+ seminar of rectors.

Experts from the UW in the ministerial team

The Minister of Science and Higher Education has appointed a Team to develop assumptions for a new model of evaluation of the quality of scientific activity. Among the experts there is Prof. Ewa Krogulec, the UW Vice-Rector for Development.

Rector’s Distinctions for researchers

168 researchers from the University of Warsaw were honoured with the Rector’s Distinctions. The award ceremony took place on 2nd April at the Kazimierzowski Palace.

Olga Tokarczuk with honorary doctorate from Sorbonne University

“I consider distinguishing me with an honorary doctorate as a symbolic and political recognition by the Academy of our Land of Metaxas, from which, after all, we all originated and in which we meet, still as real as possible, although without borders, passports and languages,” Olga Tokarczuk said during a ceremony at Sorbonne University.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie grants for UW

Five researchers have been awarded grants under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 to carry out their internship at the University of Warsaw. Two postdoctoral grants will be implemented at the Faculty of History, two at the Faculty of Physics and one at the Centre for New Technologies. 

UW in QS “World University Rankings by Subject” 2025

In this year’s Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings by Subject, the University of Warsaw has been classified in 24 disciplines. Among the highest ranked are archaeology, history, modern languages and law.

Agreement between the UW and the Chamber of Physicians and Dentists 

The signing of an agreement between the University of Warsaw and the Chamber of Physicians and Dentists took place on 18th March. The agreement includes the organisation and delivery of postgraduate training for doctors and the promotion of the idea of lifelong learning.

Miniature endoscope for premature babies

A team of researchers from the University of Warsaw and Jagiellonian University is finalising work on a new device to help treat respiratory disorders in premature newborns.
