“Tłumacz między innymi (‘The Translator Among Others’) is a book for everyone interested in translation, literature and language. The author describes a translator as an underestimated performer,” Anna Wołodko, director of the Warsaw University Library, commented on Jerzy Jarniewicz’s book in the next episode of the “Read with the UW” series.

Anna Wołodko is the director of the Warsaw University Library (BUW). She manages the main library and coordinates the activities of the library and information system established by the BUW and 37 faculty libraries as of 2018. She has been working at the BUW for the 1990s and has been the Academic Secretary, managing national and international cooperation and supporting the participation of library staff in academic life. She also managed the Targeted Projects and Fund Raising Department of the BUW. She has participated in numerous internship trips to libraries in Cardiff, Glasgow, London, Madrid and Florence, among others. She is a graduate in library science and Polish studies at the University of Warsaw.

In the next episode of the “Read with the UW” Anna Wołodko presents a book by Jerzy Jarniewicz Tłumacz między innymi (‘The Translator Among Others’). Its starting point is the thesis of non-translatability. The author shares his reflections on the challenges that the translator encounters while working. Jarniewicz confides in the reader about his disbelief in the possibility of achieving a perfect literary translation.
