In July, an agreement of cooperation was signed by representatives of the Heavy Ion Laboratory of the University of Warsaw and the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This agreement sets the stage for partnership focused on joint research projects, exchange of academics and technical staff, as well as education of students and doctoral candidates.

The meeting at the University of Warsaw was attended by Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Zygmunt Lalak and representatives of the Heavy Ion Laboratory (PL: Środowiskowe Laboratorium Ciężkich Jonów; ŚLCJ): Acting Director Dr Paweł J. Napiorkowski and Deputy Director of Technical Affairs Dr Jarosław Choiński. Representatives of the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Świerk were also present at the event.

 

Among the guests from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) were: Prof. Enge Wang, Prof. Hongwei Zhao, Dr Shan Sha, and Dr Song Guo.

 

The meeting ended up with signing a bilateral framework agreement of cooperation. Both institutions are committed to fostering a collaborative environment that encourages research, mobility of academic teachers and technical staff, and education of students and doctoral candidates.

 

The representatives of the Chinese Academy of Sciences had a chance to visit the UW Heavy Ion Laboratory and learn about the conducted research work there. Also, the structure and scientific activities of the CAS Institute of Modern Physics were presented by Prof. Hongwei Zhao.
